At CES 2009, NVIDIA launched new graphics cards for both laptops and desktops. The company has added GeForce GTX 285 and GTX 295 flagship cards to its desktop lineup. Both the cards are based on NVIDIA’s new graphics core that uses more efficient manufacturing process. The GTX 285 is a single GPU graphics card with 648MHz core frequency and 1GB video memory at 1.24GHz speed. The GTX 295 is the top of the line desktop graphics card with dual GPU running at 576MHz and 1.79GB video memory running at 1GHz speed. NVIDIA claims that their new cards are 30 percent faster than comparable AMD Radeon graphics card.
Both the cards will have DirectX 10 and OpenGL 2 support, as well as support for both PhysX and CUDA. The GTX 295 is shipping now for $499 on Amazon, whereas the GTX 285 will ship on 15th of January for $399.
On the notebook side, NVIDIA officially announced the new GeForce 100M series graphics cards. The new 100M series will replace some of the 9000M series cards in second quarter of 2009. Like the desktop cards these laptop cards will also be benefitted by new more efficient manufacturing process. The top of the line GeForce 130M will replace 9600M GT and it will be 17 percent faster than its predecessor.  GeForce 105M and 110M will replace the 9300M and 9400M, and they will be 35 percent and 55 percent faster respectively. Lenovo will be one of the first companies to use the new 100M-series graphics card in their IdeaPad Y650 laptop that will ship in March 2009.
