Google Only Sold 20,000 Nexus One Handsets in First WeekSubmitted by lalit on January 13, 2010 - 6:56pm.
With all the positive buzz and good reviews we were expecting that Google would at least sell few hundred thousand Nexus One handsets in first seven days. However, mobile analytics company Flurry estimates that Google only sold 20,000 handsets in first seven days. Flurry’s data was complied using information from more than 10,000 Android and iPhone developers and the penetration of their software. According to Flurry, the number is very small when compared to iPhone 3GS launch at 1.6 million units in first seven days or Motorola DROID launch with 250,000 handsets in first week. The company is blaming the comparative sales shortcomings on minimal publicity by Google and T-Mobile, in contrast to significant marketing campaigns done for launch of DROID and iPhone 3GS. Whatever might be the reason for slow sales of Nexus One, but an eighty times lower sales when compared to iPhone doesn’t look good.
