Adobe and Apple Working on Flash for iPhone

Adobe’s CEO Shantanu Narayen told Bloomberg that the company is now working with Apple to bring Flash to iPhone. Initially, Adobe had said that it was working on Flash for iPhone but its availability will depend on Apple’s approval.
‘It’s a hard technical challenge, and that’s part of the reason Apple and Adobe are collaborating,” Shantanu told Bloomberg in an interview. “The ball is in our court. The onus is on us to deliver.”
Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs said last year that the reason behind lack of Flash on iPhone is that it is very processor and power hungry application and Flash Lite version for mobile devices “isn’t capable enough to be used with the web.” In hindsight, Jobs asked Adobe to write third version of Flash that is less resource hungry than PC version and more capable than Flash Lite.
Narayen didn’t say when Adobe plans to bring Flash for the iPhone to the market, but we can guesstimate that it will be around summer when Apple would release updated iPhone hardware with OS X 3.0.
