Texas Instruments (TI) has unveiled WiLink 7.0 single ship solution that offers WiFi 802.11n, GPS, FM transmit/receive and Bluetooth. According to TI integrating the four technologies on a single chip reduces cost by 30 percent and size by 50 percent, while delivering superior coexistence performance as compared to existing solutions.

The design of the new chip cancels out RF interference of the four radios with help of multi-path resolution engine coupled with advanced algorithms. The chip also offers reduced power consumption by doing low power tracking, buffering and geofencing.

The WiLink 7.0 solution is sampling to major OEMs today and devices using the new chip should come to the market by end of 2010. The chip can be very useful in devices like the upcoming Apple iPad or portable media players.
