SanDisk introduces new embedded NAND flash memory designed for use in smartphones and portable media players. The new iNAND memory comes in 64GB capacity and supports system booting, system code execution and mass storage functions. The iNAND is made by stacking eight flash chips based on company’s advanced X3 32nm flash technology and a controller supporting BGA interface. The iNAND package measures 16 x 20 x 1.4mm and is ideal for ultra-slim phones. SanDisk claims that the new memory chip reduces power consumption, increasing battery life while speeding up data transfer. SanDisk has started sampling the iNAND chips.
