Wired Magazine and Safari on Apple iPadSubmitted by lalit on February 17, 2010 - 11:19am.
Wired has been developing a digital version of their magazine called Wired Reader (video above) and demoed it at TED conference. The digital version is designed for use on tablet devices like the recently announced Apple iPad. Content for Wired Reader is created in Adobe InDesign, as is normally done for print magazine, but Wired added interactive elements like photo galleries, slideshows, animations and videos. Wired Reader will run on Adobe Air on most tablets supporting Flash. However, for Apple iPad Wired Reader will be re-encoded using Adobe’s technology that converts Flash applications to iPhone applications. Wired Reader will be released this summer and no word on pricing yet. Also in iPad news, 9to5mac has posted a 6 minutes walkthrough of the Safari browser on the new iPad. The video was recorded using Safari simulator in iPhone SDK, but it shows all the features of the new browser. The most noticeable thing about Safari on iPad is that it more like a desktop browser than like an iPhone or mobile browser. We have added the video below and it shows surfing, bookmarking and many other features of the iPad browser.
