Rumors that Apple will be updating MacBook Pro lineup very soon are getting strong (actually it’s almost certain). Also reports that Best Buy has added new Apple notebook SKUs to their laptop discovery tool, and Apple’s online store shows 3-5 days wait time for new MacBook Pro orders are adding more fuel to the fire.

Best Buy’s laptop discovery tool shows five new Apple notebook configurations priced $1,199, $1,499, $1,799, $2,199 and $2,499. And also, AppleInsider has posted the model numbers for upcoming MacBook Pros including MC720LL/A for new 13-inch model, MC721LL/A for $1,499 13-Inch model, MC723LL/A for $1,799 15-inch model, MC724LL/A for $2,199 15-inch model, and MC725LL/A for $2,499 17-inch model. According to AppleInsider, retailers should start getting the new models in sealed packages as early as today, but Apple is giving strict warning to the retailers to not breach the integrity of sealed pallet shipments before the product is announced officially.

When it comes to what new features MacBook Pro update will bring, BGR is reporting that their Apple source has mentioned a few interesting things. BGR got the following information:

  • New laptops will have larger glass trackpads.
  • OS will be loaded on a separate 8-16GB SSD while everything else will remain on regular hard drive.
  • MacBook Pro models will be half-pound lighter.

After reading this we went to our sources for more information and they said that they are also hearing the same stuff about SSD and weight. However, they added the following:

  • New MacBook Pro will see complete redesign internally as well as externally.
  • Even the LCD screen will see design changes along with Unibody case, which will make the laptop lighter and sturdier.
  • Apple will adopt the new Sandy Bridge processors from Intel along with combo drive (SSD + hard drive) for more than 50% performance jump.
  • It will be the most extensive MacBook Pro update since Apple adopted the Intel processors in 2006.

To all our readers, if you are planning to buy an Apple laptop (any Apple laptop, even the MacBook Air or White MacBook) wait for 7-10 days. The upcoming MacBook Pro update is so significant that you might decide to go for the Pro model in place of other Apple laptops.
