Intel Adds Three New Xeon Chips to Processor Lineup

Intel today introduced three new Xeon processors, two low power chips and one higher-end chip. The L3110 is a 3.0GHz processor with 6MB of L2 cache and 45 watts TDP. It will be priced $224. The second low-power chip is L3360 that has 2.83GHz clock speed with 12MB of L2 cache and 65 watts TDP. The L3360 will be priced $369. The last Xeon chip that Intel launched today is X3380, a 3.16GHz chip with 12MB L2 cache and 95 watts TDP for $530.
Intel hasn’t started using the Nehalem microarchitecture in Xeon lineup yet. It is believed that they will introduce the first Xeon chips based on Nehalem by end of first quarter of 2009. The Nehalem microarchitecture will bring QuickPath technology, Turbo Boost Technology, Hyper-Treading Technology and Multi-level shared cache to Xeon processors.
