Sony showcased a concept model of new compact Alpha DSLR camera system at PMA 2010. The concept is based on Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor used in digital SLR cameras and is capable of recording full HD video in AVCHD format. Like DSLR, the ultra compact model supports interchangeable lenses. Sony’s description of the camera is “Concept model of an ultra-compact interchangeable lens digital camera system that packs the quality of a DSLR camera in an extraordinarily small body, along with interchangeable lenses”. Sony didn’t provide any other information about the new camera system. If Sony releases the compact Alpha DSLR camera it will compete with micro-four-thirds cameras from Olympus and Panasonic.
