Eurocom a company known for making laptop workstation by using high-end desktop processors has announced new Phantom-i7 notebook that uses new Core-i7 processors and upcoming Nehalem based Xeon X5580 processors. The new laptop is designed as a mobile workstation or server for engineering applications. The processor options available for Phantom-i7 will be Core i7-940, Core i7-965 Extreme and upcoming Nehalem based Xeon X5580. The laptop will support up to four hard drives for 2TB storage and triple channel memory design that will allow up to 12GB DDR3 RAM. The graphics card on Phantom-i7 will be either 1GB GeForce Go GTX 280M or 1GB Quadro FX3700M. The laptop will weigh 12-pounds and have 60 minutes battery life, as it consume 220 watts maximum power. The Phantom-i7 will ship in March for starting price of $3,000, but a fully configured system will easily top $5,000.
