With this number App Store now has more applications available for iPhone than the total number of applications (around 20,000+) available for Windows Mobile OS based phones. As a result App Store is now the world’s biggest mobile application store – a title previously held by Windows Mobile platform.

The rate at which new applications are added to the App Store is also on continues rise. It took App Store less than a month to add 5,000 applications to make the total reach 25,000. Overall in less than 9 months Apple’s App Store has more than 25,000 applications, whereas it took Microsoft’s Windows Mobile more than nine years to cross 20,000.
