Pretec Launches World’s First 100GB Compact Flash Card and 32GB SDXC CardSubmitted by lalit on March 3, 2009 - 6:32pm.
Pretec has launched the highest capacity (100GB) and the fastest (666X) compact flash card in the world at PMA. And the company didn’t stop there, they have also unveiled new SDXC 32GB card, which is world’s first, highest capacity and fastest SD card. The SDXC card will have 50MBps read/write speed. SDXC (eXtended Capacity) is the next generation of SD cards and they will support capacities up to 2TB and read/write speeds up to 300MB/s. As the new SDXC cards use exFAT file system they will not be compatible with SDHC cards, which us FAT32 file system. Pretec has started sampling the SDXC cards and they plan to enhance the capacity to 64GB by 2nd half of this year. Adoption of SDXC cards hasn’t started yet, but Pretec believes that we will see systems based on SDXC standard in second half of 2009.
