Apple updated the 13-inch MacBook Pro with 2nd generation Core i5 and Core i7 processors, high speed Thunderbolt I/O and new FaceTime HD camera. The 13-inch MacBook Pro is available in two configurations: one with a 2.3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 and 320GB hard drive priced $1,199; and one with a 2.7 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7 and 500GB hard drive priced $1,499.

The new 13-inch MacBook Pro offers a solid combination of improved processing speed, increased battery life and design. But it comes with integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 and still uses lower resolution (1280 x 800) screen when compared to recently updated 13-inch MacBook Air (1440 x 900).

Every reviewer has appreciated the speed bump new Core i5 and Core i7 processors bring, but have called the Intel GPU lacking. We completely agree with Scoot Stein’s conclusion “Despite retaining the same price and look as last year's model, the new 13-inch MacBook Pro's significant CPU updates and fantastic battery life make it one of the top laptops we've reviewed, provided you can live with passable integrated graphics.”

Overall, the new 13-inch MacBook Pro offers big leap in CPU performance with great battery life and excellent design. In thin-and-light laptop category 13-inch MacBook Pro is one of the best available laptop.
