Lenovo announced today the ThinkPad X220 laptop and X220 convertible Tablet PC. Lenovo claims that the new system run up to 75 percent faster than ultraportable competitors that use ultra low voltage CPUs, while offering up to 24 hours battery life with optional external battery. The revamped design improves durability with wider drain-holes in the spill resistant keyboard and a 50% improvement in drop test performance.

The X220 systems will be available with choice of Intel Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 processors, 12.5-inch IPS LCD screen (1366 x 768), up to 8GB memory, HD webcam and choice of SSD and USB 3.0.

The ThinkPad X220 laptop and X220 Tablet will be available starting in April through business partners and www.lenovo.com. Prices for models start at approximately $899 and $1,199, respectively.
