BBLeaks has posted screenshots of upcoming BlackBerry OS 6.0 that will bring a major shift in UI of BlackBerry devices. The screenshots show a more visual home screen with widgets bringing live information about weather, email, calendar and breaking news. The two screenshots also show that the home screen will be configurable based on user’s preference allowing user to select what data they want to view on the home screen.

Current Blackberry OS has been criticized for its lack of touch friendly controls. For example, on both Storm and Storm2 there are still many areas using text only menus that are difficult to select with fingers. However, it is rumored with BlackBerry OS 6.0, RIM would completely redo the UI to make it more accessible via finger input. RIM plans to announce the BlackBerry OS 6.0 by second half of 2010 and ship it by end of 2010.
