Acer has added new TimelineX series to their notebook lineup. Four new laptop models have been introduced including 13.3-inch 1830T and 3820T, 14-inch 4820T and 15.6-inch 5820T. The 13-inch 1830T models come with Core 2 Solo CPU, whereas the other three models offer option of Core i3, i5 or i7 processors. All four laptops feature dedicated ATI mobile GPU, up to 8GB RAM, 500GB hard drive, WiFi and Bluetooth.

The feature that Acer is highlighting in the new TimelineX series is power efficiency, offering more than 8 hours battery life. Acer says they were able to achieve the power efficiency without sacrificing performance by choosing following components and technologies:

  • The backlit LED panels, combined with Intel Display Power Savings (iDPST), guarantee a 30% reduction in consumption while maintaining the same image quality.
  • A new generation of hard disk ensures low consumption (about 40% less than standard models) and, at the same time, lower operating temperatures and less noise.
  • A revised cooling system uses low-energy fans to reduce battery consumption to a minimum.
  • The new family of Intel Core processors optimizes efficiency automatically by adapting the available power to the workload required.

The TimeLineX series is less than one inch (24mm) thick at its thinnest and weighs between 3.96 pounds and 5.29 pounds depending on screen size. No word yet on launch date or pricing, but if previous TimeLine series is an indication the starting price should be around $599.
