HTC and Sprint have announced world’s first 3G/4G Android handset, HTC EVO 4G that supports Sprint’s 4G WiMAX network for up to 10 times faster download speeds than 3G network. The Android 2.1 handset features 4.3-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 8-megapixel camera, forward facing 1.3-megapixel camera, 1GB RAM, 720p video recording, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, HDMI video-out and microSD card slot. The HTC EVO 4G will come with built-in hotspot functionality, which will allow up to eight WiFi enabled devices like laptop, music player or game unit to share the 4G service. The handset will also feature new HTC Sense user interface that comes with Friend Stream, which aggregates multiple social communication channels including Facebook and Twitter into one organized flow of updates. Sprint currently offers 4G service in 27 markets and will launch 4G service in more than 8 new markets by summer of 2010. HTC EVO 4G will be available through all Sprint channels and through retail partners, RadioShack, Best Buy and Walmart, this summer. No word on pricing yet.
