Motorola Developing OS Based on Web Standards For Mobile ProductsSubmitted by lalit on March 24, 2011 - 10:36am.
Even though Google Android OS has brought Motorola back into reckoning as far as smartphones are considered. But that isn’t stopping Motorola from developing their own operating system for mobile products like tablet and smartphones. According to Information Week, Motorola has “hired a number of experienced mobile and Web engineers from Apple and Adobe and is developing a Web-based mobile operating system as a possible alternative to Google's Android software.” Deutsche Bank analyst, Jonathan Goldberg believes that Motorola recognizes need to differentiate and they need options, just in case. He adds, “Nobody wants to rely on a single supplier.” The move might indicate that Motorola is planning to move away from fragmented Android platform. Also, if the recent patent claims against Android from various companies are proved in court it will be easier for Motorola to move to open web standards based OS than develop a completely new OS from ground up.
