Palm Pre Coming on April 30th for $299?

Jim Van a beta tester working with Logicomm – an IT company based out of Rhode Island has Twitted that the highly anticipated Palm Pre will be released on April 30th for $299.99 with two year contract. He also twitted other information about Pre:

  • Got Pre to work on Twitter, But it’s a tad cludgy… #Palm Pre
  • Sprint claims that 4/30 is a line in the sand according to my acct mgr there… he’s usually right on #Palm Pre
  • UI is very clean, well thought out, made for fingers. Somebody used their brains on the design. Palm’s always been cool like that
  • Just used browser to remote in and play on our doc server… almost like computing w/out kbd… loaded word doc quickly…nice #Palm Pre

Few things that work against the source Jim Van, one - won’t a beta tester be under NDA to not disclose information about the new device and second - why would a beta tester know release date and pricing for the new device. Unless of course Palm wants to keep the blogosphere buzzing about the new Pre till it is released and is feeding information to beta testers. Also we hope that Palm wouldn’t price the Pre $300 with two year contract as it would kill the device before it is even released. AT&T is now selling 8GB iPhone as low as $99, which is the device Palm Pre will compete against.
