AT&T Unveils New Phones Aimed at Texting and Emails

AT&T has announced six new phones with focus on texting and emailing. The lineup includes Nokia E71x, Samsung Propel Pro, Samsung Impression, Samsung Magnet, LG Xenon and LG Neon. All the phones announced for spring season will be arriving in AT&T stores and online at wireless.att.com in the coming weeks.

The first phone in the lineup is Nokia E71x, which is the thinnest smartphone on the market at 10mm (0.39-inch). The Symbian OS S60 based phone will offer WiFi along with flexibility of many Symbian based applications and AT&T Navigator. The phone will be available in black steel finish for $99.99 with two-year contract.

The second smartphone in the lineup is Samsung Propel Pro based on Windows Mobile 6.1 OS. This full-QWERTY silver and chrome compact slider smartphone runs full range of enterprise applications and is an update of Samsung Propel phone designed for business users. Like the Nokia phone, this phone also supports WiFi and AT&T Navigator service. The Samsung Propel Pro will ship on April 14th for $149.99 with two-year contract.

The first phone aimed specifically at texting that AT&T announced today is Samsung Impression. AT&T claims that the phone features the brightest and clearest display in US. The AMOLED (active-matrix organic light-emitting diode) screen is paired with slim slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The Impression will have 3-megapixel camera, 3.2-inch AMOLED screen and full web browser. The phone will ship on April 7th for $199.99 with two-year contract.

The second texting phone Samsung Magnet is a low cost bar-shaped device in orange and black color. The phone has an integrated camera, 2.5-inch LCD screen and WAP browser. No information about release date and pricing is available yet.

The first of the two LG texting phones is LG Xenon that comes with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard along with 3-inch touchscreen. Xenon has 3G network support, 2-megapixel camera and offers the full suite of AT&T entertainment services like AT&T Navigator, Napster Mobile, eMusic Mobile and more. The LG Xenon will be available on April 8th in three colors black, blue and red for $99.99 with two-year contract.

The last phone that AT&T announced today is LG Neon, which is a low cost touchscreen device designed for texting. The green and white compact slider phone will have 2-megapixel camera and access to Instant Messaging, mobile Email, AT&T Music and mobile Internet via WAP browser. Pricing and release date are not available yet.
