Netbooknews.de has leaked Dell’s netbook roadmap for 2009. The leaked presentation slides confirms that Dell is planning to update Inspiron Mini 10 lineup and introduce 11.6-inch Dell Inspiron Mini 11 netbook in Q3 2009. The first Mini 10 update codenamed “Bear” will come in late April or early May. The update will bring Intel Atom N270 1.3Ghz or 1.6GHz processor to the mini 10 laptop along with up to 160GB hard drive and up to 2GB DDR2 RAM. The base price of the new Mini 10 will be $299.

The second update to Inspiron Mini 10 codenamed “Tiger” will bring Intel Atom Z520/Z530 processor, up to 2GB RAM, up to 250GB hard drive, new magnesium casing, 720p video support, integrated GPS, integrate Mobile TV and HDMI video output. The starting price for this model will be $349 and it will ship sometime this summer.

In September this year, Dell will add Inspiron Mini 11 codenamed Mini 1110 Argos to its netbook lineup. The new netbook will feature 11.6-inch high definition screen, high performing and low power consuming Intel processor (might be upcoming Intel’s CULV platform), up to 250GB hard drive and up to 2 GB DDR2 RAM. Mini 11 will be Windows Vista based thin and light netbook with laptop-sized keyboard. The starting price for the new system will be $499.

Dell will follow its age-old policy of competing on price rather than innovative features, as the company will price its upcoming netbooks below most of its competitors. For example, the upcoming Mini 10 codenamed Bear will have starting price of $299, which is almost $50 less than its nearest competitor Acer Aspire One 10.1-inch. However, Dell’s Mini 10 will have slower processor (1.3GHz vs. 1.6GHz), less RAM (512MB vs. 1GB) and smaller hard drive (120GB vs. 160GB) in base configuration.
