AMD announced today the launch of the first of a new family of ATI FirePro professional graphics solutions with ATI Eyefinity technology. AMD claims that the new ATI FirePro V8800 is industry’s most powerful professional graphics card ever created and the only professional graphics solution with support for Microsoft DirectX 11 technology.

The ATI FirePro is a powerful solution delivering 2.6 teraflops of raw computing power and 147.2 GB/s memory bandwidth. This will allow FirePro V8800 users to drive up to four 30-inch displays, enabling 16.4 million total pixels.

The card has 2GB GDDR5 memory and support for OpenGL, OpenCL and DirectX 11. It is optimized for more than 90 pro-graphics packages and offer connectivity via four DisplayPort ports. AMD ATI FirePro V8800 is shipping today priced $1,499.
