Nokia Comes With Music - No Takers

Last year, Nokia launched their “Comes With Music” service with much fanfare, but Music Ally claims that the service has only been able to win 23,000 subscribers in UK since launch. Nokia refused to comment on the numbers by saying that the company has not released any data related to total number of subscribers for the service.

Nokia sells phones that are tied to “Comes With Music” service that allows consumers to get either 12 or 18 months of unlimited music downloads to their mobile phone and the cost of this subscription is included in the price of the handset. Problem with the Nokia service is it would work only on Nokia phones or ones computer.

Paul Brindley of Music Ally said, “It’s a big disappointment because very rarely, if ever, have we seen a digital music service that’s been so widely promoted in the mainstream media.”

Nokia has launched the service in five countries and if the other four countries also have same kind of success, then it is bad news for both music industry and Nokia.
