At BlackBerry World 2011, RIM demoed Android apps running on Blackberry PlayBook for the first time (video above). The Android apps run in a virtual machine on the QNX BlackBerry PlayBook OS with each app running its own instance automatically loading the emulator. User won’t be able to get Android apps directly from Android Market, but will have to use BlackBerry App World to download even the Android apps for Playbook. Android developers will have to submit their apps directly to RIM, and they will vet and approve these applications. No word yet on when this feature will come to the PlayBook.
