Toshiba is developing world’s thinnest and lightest 13-inch laptop that they plan to launch soon. According to a leaked slide the laptop will have following features:

  • Standard Core i5 CPU
  • World’s thinnest and lightest 13-inch laptop ~1kg (SSD)
  • New CPU cooling system (Blaze Mountain concept) for thin enclosure
  • Honeycomb rib structure providing durable external casing
  • Long battery life using hybrid battery system combining Lithium Ion and SCiB batteries

Toshiba has been developing the new laptop for past two years and it will be the first laptop ever to use SCiB (Super Charged ion Battery) that charges to 90 percent in less than 10 minutes and offers up to 10 years of usage. Toshiba could use upcoming Core i5 processors that have 25W or 18W TDP with clock speed of more than 1.8GHz, which Intel will release in 3rd quarter of 2010.

Whatever configuration Toshiba selects, this laptop will be aimed at high-end market because of technologies like SCiB and Honeycomb rib casing, which won’t be cheap to implement.
