Sony today officially launched their new X1000 series touchscreen Walkman in US. The new Walkman will compete against Apple’s iPod touch. The X1000 series will have two models 16GB X1051 for $299 and 32GB X1061 for $399. Both the models will come with 3-inch OLED touchscreen, web browser, YouTube video player, Slacker Radio app, FM tuner, WiFi support and 33 hours battery life for audio playback.
The audio/video formats supported by the player include AAC, MP3, WMA, WMV, MPEG 4 and MPEG 2. SlashGear has posted complete review of the Walkman X player, and they praise its superb OLED screen and very good sound quality. Overall, Walkman X1000 is a good portable media player, but it is no iPod touch because of the whole application ecosystem supporting the iPod touch. You can pre-order the Sony Walkman X on Amazon now.
