Analyst: Next Gen iPhone will be Called iPhone “4S”, Not iPhone 5Submitted by lalit on May 13, 2011 - 4:07pm.
Jefferies’ analyst Peter Misek claims that next generation iPhone will be called iPhone 4S and not the iPhone 5. He added industry checks indicate that next iPhone will “include minor cosmetic changes, better cameras, A5 dual-core processor and HSPA+ support.” Misek also believes that iPhone 4S will work on Sprint, T-Mobile and China Mobile. According to the analyst, Apple wanted to use 4G (LTE) chipset in their new handset, but the chipsets that satisfied Apple’s requirements won’t be ready in time. So the company will go with HSPA+ support that will bring near 4G speeds to the iPhone. Most of what Misek has written in the note to investors has been known in the blogosphere for quite some time. In fact, BGR posted images showing iPhone being tested on T-Mobile network last month. The N94 prototype in the image was rumored to be using A5 processor and had support for HSPA+ network. Our sources say that we will see the next generation iPhone this summer. However, they are not sure what Apple will call the next iPhone (iPhone 4S or iPhone 5), because that decision is made by one man only, his Steveness.
