Samsung has promised to bring 30-inch OLED TV to the market by end of this year or early next year, but the company is not sitting still. Samsung announced today that they have started ordering equipment for world’s leading 5.5 generation OLED manufacturing line. The 5.5 generation line can produce 1500 x 1100mm OLED sheets that can be used to cut out four 30-inch OLED screens or even produce 42-inch OLED screen. The installation of 5.5 generation equipment should be completed in first half of 2011. Samsung plans to use the new line for production of 30-inch OLED TV screens, as well as start test run of 42-inch OLED screens by end of 2011. No word yet on when Samsung will actually bring 42-inch OLED TVs to the market, but we believe it should be by late 2012.
