Verizon’s CEO Lowell McAdam said at Reuters Global Technology Summit that the company “is planning to offer a slew of devices, including tablet computers and three to five phones that could run on its new LTE high-speed wireless network by May 2011.” Companies like Motorola, HTC, LG and RIM are working with Verizon to bring LTE based devices in 2011.

Verizon plans to launch LTE network in 25 to 30 markets covering 100 million people, including New York by the end of this year. McAdam believes that Verizon has around 18 to 24 months lead over other carriers when it comes to LTE implementation. Both AT&T and T-Mobile don’t plan to start LTE network deployment before second half of 2011 and Sprint is focusing on WiMAX standard.

McAdam said that he would demo the first LTE phones and tablets at Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2011) in Las Vegas in January. Verizon plans to bring LTE support to its entire network (285 million people) by end of 2013 and will allow rural area operators to use Verizon’s spectrum to build out LTE networks in areas that Verizon doesn’t serve.
