Like every other electronic maker on the planet Freescale also wants to join the tablet race. The company has been showcasing tablet designs based around their processor lineup for past few months. Their latest tablet concepts focus around multimedia activities like high definition video and pro level audio playback. The new designs add docking stations to the tablets that can offer audio/video outputs or acts simply as a picture frame stand.

In the design “Home Bar” the docking station offers outputs for HDTV, HiFi audio system and bigger display with ports like HDMI, VGA, Composite, Component, Ethernet and USB. In the second design “Pro Custom Audio” the dock integrates the tablet in existing synth, turntable or DJ systems with ports like XLR, MIDI and S/PDIF. The last design shows a “Simple Dock” that can be used to offer picture frame functionality or better viewing/typing angle.

No word yet on plans by any company to launch systems based on the concepts shown, but the idea of using docks with tablets is really interesting.
