Synaptics ClickPad Brings Multitouch Trackpad to Windows PCsSubmitted by lalit on June 2, 2010 - 4:59pm.
Apple laptops have been using multitouch trackpad for more than three years now. However, there haven’t been any similar solutions on the Windows side. Yes, there have been some laptops from companies like Acer that can recognize two finger inputs, but for the first time Synaptics has introduced trackpad capable of recognizing four finger gestures for Windows laptops. The new multi-finger PC TouchPad-IS is based on Synaptics' new Image Sensing Technology and will join the Series 3 TouchPad and ClickPad family. The new Series 3 TouchPad's and ClickPads also use SmartSense technology, which prevents accidental activation of the cursor when a user's palm unintentionally contacts the TouchPad. The Synaptics ClickPad features ClickSmart technology, which enables users to control the left and right button commands on their ClickPad universally. Laptops using new Synaptics TouchPad and ClickPad will come to the market in Q3 2010.
