Apple Releases Time Capsule and AirPort Extreme UpdatesSubmitted by lalit on June 21, 2011 - 3:02pm.
As rumored Apple today released updated Time Capsule and AirPort Extreme base station. The Time Capsule now comes with 2TB or 3TB hard drive for backup and supports simultaneous dual-band 802.11n WiFi operation. It can operate in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands simultaneously providing faster performance and greater range. Other features are guest network, USB for printer and external hard drive sharing, automatic Time Machine backup, three Ethernet ports and 802.11a/b/g/n support. The AirPort Extreme has all the features of Time Capsule except the internal hard drive for automatic backup. However, it can be used for backup by attaching external hard drive via USB port. Apple claims that the new Airport Extreme is 5x faster and has 2x range and can support up to 50 people. The Time Capsule is available now of Apple’s website priced $299 for 2TB model and $499 for 3TB model. The AirPort Express is also available now on Apple for $179.
