Google has just started rolling out Android 2.2 “Froyo” update, but the company is already planning the release of next Android update 3.0 codenamed “Gingerbread” that will bring significant new features. With Gingerbread, Android will see a complete overhaul of the user interface that will be inspired by 3D Gallery application found on Nexus One. Android 3.0 will have smooth transitions and better application switching embedded throughout the whole OS, to get iPhone like complete and smooth user experience on Android. On the hardware side, the OS will require at least 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM and 3.5-inch touchscreen display. The OS will bring 1280 x 760 resolution support for screens bigger than 4-inch. It is rumored that Google plans to introduce Andorid 3.0 “Gingerbread” by mid-October this year and devices based on the new OS should ship in November or December.
