Adding to long list of iPhone rumors that have came out in past few days, 9to5mac today reported that Apple is preparing not one but two completely new iPhone models for September launch. Seth Weintraub wrote on 9to5mac:

The “big” news is that Apple will be selling two totally distinct iPhones in September.  One will be a low-end variety that will address the cheap Android market, according to the source.  The other will be a high-end device and will be an all-new design.  There will be no mistaking these two devices, they will be immediately discernible.  The iPod touch, like it always has, will get updated in September as well.

Seth believes that for cheaper iPhone model Apple will start with iPod touch hardware that has lower quality screen, smaller battery and average camera. And, “Add the GPS/3G baseband chips and some phone wiring and a solid 3 megapixel camera and you are 99% of the way to an iPhone lite (mini).” Apple could sell this device for $299 with 8GB or 16GB memory.

On the iPod touch side, a Dutch blog AppleSpot is reporting that next generation iPod touch will have 3G data support. The new iPod will be launched along with next generation iPhone in September and will work with major carriers.

Our sources say that adding 3G support to iPod touch is very unlikely. However, some believe that Apple could add the 3G support just for data only service. One thing we are sure of is that next few months are going to be really interesting as far as Apple products are concerned.
