White iPhone 4 Delayed by Glass Supplier IssuesSubmitted by lalit on July 19, 2010 - 6:43am.
Engadget is reporting that white iPhone 4 launch delay is related to manufacturing problems faced by Lens Technology supplier of white glass for iPhone 4. According to one of the workers at Lens Technology, the company’s screen-printing workshop is having problem with white glass. Engadget wrote “the factory is still working out the perfect combination of paint thickness and opacity – the former to ensure the next sub-contractor has enough clearance for the digitizer overlay, and the later for the absolute whiteness that Jony Ive and Co. strive for.” Apple announced last week that they would start shipping the much-anticipated white iPhone by end of this month. Previously, both the black and white iPhone 4 models were supposed to launch on 24 June. However, Apple delayed white iPhone 4 launch because of manufacturing difficulty and announced that the white model will ship in second half of July. Apple hasn’t given any official launch date for iPhone 4, but its very likely that it will be 30th or 31st July rather than any earlier date.
