Newsgeek has posted a video on YouTube comparing the load time of various website on iPhone 3GS Safari browser and Windows Phone 7 IE browser. As you can see in the video every website loads faster on last year’s iPhone 3GS, which had a 600MHz processor with 256MB RAM compared to Samsung Windows Phone 7 that comes with 1GHz processor and 512MB RAM.

The reason behind why a last year’s iPhone model has faster webpage load time than upcoming Windows Phone 7, is the outdated IE 7 based browser that uses some features of IE 8. The Safari browser on iPhone uses the modern WebKit engine, whereas the browser on Windows Phone 7 is using IE 7 engine that was developed in 2006.

Browsers have become the most important feature of a smartphone and we don’t understand why Microsoft didn’t base the browser on upcoming IE 9 architecture. The only explanation we have is maybe because it’s Windows Phone 7 and not Windows Phone 9.
