Digi Times is reporting that Intel’s next generation notebook platform Calpella is scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2009. The platform will be based on Nehalem processor architecture and will abandon the current Northbridge and Southbridge chipset arrangement and transfer Northbridge components to CPU package. A single integrated chip codenamed Ibex Peak-M will coordinate other features on the motherboard. The two next generation notebook CPUs in Calpella platform are Clarksfield and Auburndale, both will feature on-die DDR3 memory controller. The Auburndale will also include graphics core integrated in CPU package. In Calpella platform, the Puma Peak chipset will support WiFi a/b/g/n and the Kilmer Peak chipset will also include WiMAX support.
