This week Samsung sent out invitation to the press for a special event on August 11. The invitation was sent to NY Times, WSJ and other major media houses, as well as websites like CruchGear and Engadget. The invitation didn’t reveal any information about the upcoming product, but simple said: Join us as Samsung celebrates a new dimension of Wonder with new products and announcements on August 11 – Come explore what’s new. Though Samsung didn’t provide any information, Reuters is reporting that the company plans to introduce tablet computers this quarter based on Google Android operating system featuring a 7-inch screen. The tablet will be called Samsung Galaxy Tab, and feature a 1.2GHz processor, 16GB internal storage, 3.2-megapixel camera, VGA front facing camera and microSDHC card slot. Galaxy Tab will be using Android 2.2 with custom Galaxy S UI from Samsung. We should get more information and shipping date for the new tablet at the event on August 11.
