T-Mobile G1 just got the Android 1.5 update codenamed Cupcake, however Android engineers are warning that the G1 might not get any further android updates. The reason give by the engineers is limited system memory on the phone, which was completely filled up by current Android version 1.5. This means future Android updates codenamed Donut and Eclair will likely not be released for the phone as newer versions always requires more memory.

Android engineers Dave Sparks tweeted “As much as I’m hoping that it’ll be possible to somehow continue updating the G1, I can’t promise anything.” This is an indication that just after 10 months T-Mobile G1 will have no further Android updates. When compared to original iPhone that Apple is updating (iPhone OS 3 update) even after 2 years, this is really bad.
