Augmented Reality (AR) is all the rage in mobile application development these days. AR combines the camera, Internet and GPS on a cellphone to give information about the surroundings. Metro Paris Subway is the first augmented reality app released for the iPhone and it works only on the latest iPhone 3GS as it requires digital compass to function properly.

The application can add Point of Interest (POI) database (for additional price) to get information about Food & Drink, Restaurants, Hotel and other places via Google Maps. The Point of Interest database when combined with augmented reality enables you to see the nearest stations and POI located within 1km range.
