Cult of Mac: More Evidence That Snow Leopard is a Touchscreen OSSubmitted by lalit on September 1, 2009 - 9:12pm.
Leander Kahney of Cult of Mac has posted an article arguing that the new Mac OS X Snow Leopard is designed to run Apple’s upcoming tablet. He talks about various parts of Mac OS X that Apple updated and are now more touch friendly. The first feature he points out is Expose in the Dock, which reveals all the open windows in an application when you click and hold the application icon in the dock. He further adds that Stacks is even more convincing with bigger icons and fat slider for scrolling up and down. However, Leander says new virtual keyboard was the feature that convinced him Snow Leopard was designed as tablet operating system. The new virtual keyboard is bigger that the one found on Mac OS X Leopard, which is required if you want to type on touchscreen. It is almost like iPhone keyboard just designed for bigger screen size. Though the above-mentioned features will be required for a touchscreen tablet, but we don’t believe Snow Leopard is completely ready for tablet form factor. There are many UI elements for navigation that won’t translate well on a touchscreen. And we are 100 percent sure that Apple won’t shoehorn Snow Leopard on a Tablet just to release the new product.
