Canon Announces PowerShot G12 with HD Video RecordingSubmitted by lalit on September 14, 2010 - 10:23am.
Canon today officially announced the much-rumored PowerShot G12 aimed at prosumers and professional photographers. The new camera comes with Canon’s HS System, 720p video recording and Hybrid IS. The PowerShot G12 is also compatible with a new optional Lens Filter Adapter, which extends with the lens when using the zoom to offer full coverage throughout the zoom range. The HS System on G12 combines high-sensitivity 10.0 Megapixel CCD sensor and high-performance DIGIC 4 processor for outstanding image quality in all lighting conditions, including low light. The inclusion of the HS System allows shooting at higher ISOs with excellent image quality – enabling users to capture exceptional images in all conditions. This extended ISO range allows users to shoot darker scenes without engaging the flash or using a tripod – capturing correctly exposed images using only the available light. In low light mode the ISO range can go up to ISO 12800. The 5x optical zoom lens with image stabilization, along with Canon’s new Hybrid IS system allows G12 users to take blur-free shots at any range without a tripod. Hybrid IS counteracts unintentional shift and angular movement – two kinds of camera shake that become particularly pronounced as image magnification increases. Other features on the PowerShot G12 include full manual control, RAW support, Electronic Level function, multi-aspect shooting, HDR shooting, Auto scene mode with 28 scene and extended shooting abilities via wide range of accessories. Canon PowerShot G12 will ship in early October priced $499. PowerShot G12 is available for pre-order
