3 Not Happy With Apple for Picking O2 as Solo iPhone Carrier

Mobile Today revealed that Apple and O2 are selling more than 27,000 iPhone 3Gs per week in UK and will sell more than half million by the end of this year. Well that is not making other wireless carriers in UK happy and mobile carrier 3 has slammed Apple’s chosen iPhone carrier by saying that O2’s 3G network doesn’t do justice to the iPhone. As 9to5mac points out there is definitely an element of sour grapes to 3’s claim.
Bernie O’Beirne, 3’s indirect sales director said, “The iPhone is not on the right network, a handset is only as good as its operator.” He further claimed that O2 has the least developed 3G network and went on to question O2’s tariffs. 3 aims to double its UK business but not having iPhone in its arsenal could hamper its growth. Right now, it looks like both Apple and O2 are very happy in each others company and both company’s have already said that O2 will have iPhone exclusive right for coming year. So 3 can just complain about it but they won’t get the iPhone anytime soon.
