HP Announces Six New PC Systems for Holiday Season

Microsoft started shipping new Zune HD today, but the day belonged to HP as the company announced four new laptops, two netbooks and one all-in-one desktop. The first two notebooks that HP announced are Envy 13 and 15 that are housed in aluminum and black plastic shells. Design of both the notebooks looks MacBook Pro inspired with aluminum casing and MacBook-like trackpad that HP calls “clickpad”.

The Envy 15 is one inch thick and weight 5.19 pounds. It comes with Intel Core 2 Duo and option of mobile Core i7 quad core processors, 16GB DDR3 RAM, 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4830 graphics and option of two SSD in a RAID 0 setup. The starting price for the system is $1,799, but if you select quad-core processor and more than 4GB DDR3 RAM the cost will easily cross $2,500.

The 0.8-inch thick Envy 13 features 13.1-inch screen with 82 percent color gamut. The laptop comes with low voltage 1.86GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 3GB or 5GB RAM, 250GB hard drive and Mobility Radeon HD 4330 graphics. The Envy 13 has a starting price of $1,699. Both Envy 13 and 15 drops optical drive to decrease thickness and weight, have 7 hours battery life and Monster’s Beats PC audio for better audio performance.

The third laptop that HP announced today ProBook 5310m is aimed at business users. The 13.3-inch notebook is just 0.93-inch thick and weighs 3.8 pounds. ProBook 5310m has no optical drive, in fact all the notebooks announced today by HP have no optical drive. The processor choice will range from 1.2GHz CULV dual core processor to 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo processor and battery life will depend on processor choice 7 hours for CULV Celeron processor and 4 hours for Core 2 Duo. The starting price for the system will be $699 and the Core 2 Duo system will cost $899.

The second CULV notebooks that HP announced is Pavilion dm3 that offers Intel CULV processor or AMD Athlon Neo X2 chip. Both ATI and NIVIDA graphics card options are available with the notebook, but if you select all-AMD option you will get dynamic switching between dedicated and integrated graphics based on power requirement. The dm3 weighs 4.2 pounds and is just under an inch thick. Starting price for dm3 is $549. All the notebooks will ship in second half of October.

HP also released two NVIDIA Ion based netbooks Mini 311 and 110. Both the netbooks use 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 160GB hard drive and Windows XP. The Mini 311 features an 11.6-inch screen and weighs 3.2 pounds. The Mini 110 Studio Tord Boontje features 3D floral pattern and 10-inch screen. Both the netbooks are available today for starting price of $399.

The last system that HP announced today is all-in-one MS200 desktop that comes with 1.5GHz Athlon X2 processor and ATI Radeon HD 3200 integrated graphics. HP is aiming for students with this affordable desktop priced $599. The desktop will have 2GB RAM, 320GB hard drive, DVD burner, WiFi and webcam. The MS200 will come with HP’s MediaSmart photo and video editing or playback tool as well as Pandora Internet radio. The MS200 all-in-one desktop is available now to order on HP’s website.
