AMD Debuts First Sub-$100 Quad Core Athlon II ProcessorSubmitted by lalit on September 16, 2009 - 12:29am.
AMD has introduced two new Athlon II processors – Athlon II X4 620 and 630. Both the processors are the first quad core CPUs in Athlon II series. The processors are made using 45nm process technology and can be paired with 785G chipset from AMD. Graphics on the chipset is provided by integrated ATI Radeon HD 4200 chip. The Athlon II X4 620 has 2.6GHz clock speed and the Athlon II X4 630 has 2.8GHz clock speed. Both the processors have 2MB of L2 cache and support for DDR2 and DDR3 memory. AMD has yet not announced pricing or launch date, but the company says that Athlon II X4 620 will be the first sub $100 quad core processor.
