Nokia today showed official Qt port for Maemo 5. Qt is a cross-platform application development framework that allows easy porting of applications to all Qt supported platforms like Symbian, Windows Mobile and now Maemo. The Qt port for Maemo 5 is designed to work with upcoming Nokia N900 device and it is based on Qt’s upcoming version 4.6, scheduled for release in Q1 2010. We have added demo video of Qt port running on N900 below. Along with Qt port to Maemo 5, Nokia also revealed information about upcoming Maemo 6 OS at Maemo Summit. Nokia showed Maemo 6 UI concept that the company claims delivers “iconic user experience and integrated internet services in one aesthetic package”. Some slides at the presentation also confirmed that Maemo 6 would support multitouch and capacitive touchscreens. Maemo 6’s desktop would be based on widgets and it will support both landscape and portrait modes. It will also support Qt framework allowing easy port of applications from Maemo 5. Nokia expects to launch Maemo 6 in late 2010.
