Vodafone BlackBerry Storm2 9520 Coming on October 26th; Walt Mossberg Previews The DeviceSubmitted by lalit on October 15, 2009 - 1:53pm.
Vodafone today announced that BlackBerry Storm2 could now be pre-ordered online on Vodafone UK and customers ordering it today will receive their new smartphone from 26th October. The BlackBerry Storm2 is available for free on pay monthly plans from £35 with 600 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited BlackBerry Internet Service, unlimited Vodafone Mobile Internet and broadband on a 24-month contract. The biggest improvement on the second generation Storm2 is the updated SurePress technology that provides tactile feedback electronically instead of mechanically. Resulting in faster typing speed and better touchscreen response. Hardware specifications of Storm2 are 3.25-inch (360 x 480) screen, 3.2-megapixel camera, quad band GSM/EDGE, 2100MHz UMTS/HSPA, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, 2GB of onboard memory and microSD card slot. BlackBerry Storm2 is thinner and sleeker with updated version of BlackBerry OS 5 that offers various touch-minded enhancements. It has a 1400mAhr battery that provides up to 6 hours of 3G talk time and 280 hours of standby time. In US, BlackBerry Storm2 will be coming to Verizon sometime next month. Walt Mossberg of Wall Street Journal has posted a preview of BlackBerry Storm2 and he says that overall the Storm2 fixes many of its first generation flaws. But he adds, “The browser is still inferior to Apple’s, Google’s and Palm’s. And the traditional BlackBerry interface cries out for a major overhaul in a touch device like this, especially when you add a lot of apps. RIM’s menu and folder metaphor seems tired on this device.” We have added a video of Walt Mossberg previewing BlackBerry Storm2 below.
