It was reported that Apple has been talking with media outlets in US to provide content on its upcoming tablet. Now Australian news website Sydney Morning Herald is reporting that “Apple has sent specifications of the device to Australian media companies in an effort to sound out whether they would be interested in delivering their content to the tablet. None would speak about the device on the record.”

Apple is pitching development of new apps for the tablet that media companies will use to distribute their content in digital form and charge for it. It is believed that Apple will follow the same 70/30 revenue model it uses for iPhone App Store.

In other Apple related news, ARM today announced its 3rd quarter earnings and revealed that one of their licensees has taken rights for dual-core 2GHz ARM Cortex A9 chip. However, the company said the licensee couldn’t be disclosed under their agreement. Sounds like Apple…

The 2GHz Cortex A9 is a very impressive processor, as its 60 percent smaller and faster than Intel Atom chip. Cortex A9 is also very energy efficient at idle it consumers 10 times less power than Atom chip. It is unlikely that Apple will use the new 2GHz Cortex A9 chip in upcoming tablet because mass production of the chip has yet not started.
