At FPS 2009, LG is showing off a transparent OLED panel that measures 15-inch and is ideal for use in notebooks. The display replaces the black portion behind the screen with transparent material giving the display 30 percent transmittance. The new panel emits light from both electrodes simultaneously compares to normal OLED displays that emits light either from the positive or negative electrodes. The electrodes in transparent OLED panel are encapsulated in a transparent sheath. LG didn’t give any other information about the display like its resolution, contrast ratio or when it will actually ship.
