Republic Wireless, a division of Cary, the company that offers VoIP and bandwidth services on Bandwidth.com will launch a new wireless service, which will combine cellular services with WiFi. The service will cost $19 and will allow users to make calls using VoIP when they are near WiFi network and will switch to cellular network when they are away. The service will include unlimited voice, unlimited text messaging and unlimited data even on the 3G cellular network. Republic Wireless service will require a special handset that can seamlessly switch between WiFi and cellular network. The company has designed and built Android based (they call it Freedom OS) handsets that they will offer. Republic Wireless will be using Sprint for cellular network and work on any WiFi network that allows access to you. Republic Wireless will announce the new service along with new handset supporting the service on November 8th. The company claims that we have been overdue for serious evolution in cell phone world and “On November 8, everything changes.” It will be interesting to see what the company announces and how it will affect the wireless industry in future.
